Founder’s Message
During the past 50 years my ministry, whenever I saw hearts flow between parents, children, and friends, what formed was hope; hope to discover happiness and the depths of the heart. People who become isolated fall into their own thoughts and are rendered weak in mind, as well as in spirit. In 1995, a young man named Andy came to me steeped in alcohol, drugs, and deviant behavior. I remember constantly praying for Andy to change. After a month of training him in Korea, he opened up to me and emerged with a brand new heart. Andy now lives a healthy, productive life in Colorado. International Youth Fellowship (IYF) was borne through that unforgettable experience. What our youths need are deeper, multidimensional views of the world and clean hearts before God in order to become leaders of the next generation.
My dream for IYF is that it allows young people to open up their hearts and learn to accept the people around them. This will lead to happiness and the longing to create happiness for others.
Pastor Ock Soo Park
IYF Founder
With the core values of IYF, Challenge, Change and Cohesion, International Youth Fellowship(IYF) is developing and operating various youth changing programs to lead the youths of today who are self-centered, seeking a materialist world, to be the leader of tomorrow as ‘the true workers of society with honest, self-controlled life and creative, progressive thinking ’ .
Mission
The Organization’s mission is to train and develop youths, who are imperative to the future, into leaders of the global age. This is accomplished by instilling an international mindset through healthy, international fellowship and by planting the proper standards of priority. The world is now focusing its interest in the education of youths, in whom our future belongs. It has been a long time since youths have become a problem in society through self-indulgence, deviation, drugs, alcohol, and crime. This occurred as the result of the fact that they were negligently left to sin due both to the lack of interest towards the youths, and the lack of right leadership. Even with comparatively conservative youths, their lethargy and confusion of values is a serous problem. Many youth establishments are taking
action, and have even obtained some results; however, their efforts are only
focused on the current situation, in keeping them from doing wrongful deeds, or
trying to keep them from going down the wrong path without finding or resolving
the source of the problem.IYF (International Youth Fellowship) is a worldwide organization that was formed by people who were deeply touched by these problems. It was established in 1994, and is active in 80 countries around the world. Educators, politicians, scholars, businessmen and scientists from every level of society, color, and language, have come together with one heart and developed special programs for youths. In fact, many youths were changed through these programs, freed from sin, and became the workers that actively participate in good works.
In 2008 IYF established a branch in Kenya so that it could contribute to lead the youths, the leaders of the future, as the leaders like light and salt in their society. The purpose of IYF programs focuses on healthy, sound hearted youth education. It will be the center of light that not only will brighten Kenya but all of Africa as well.
